Self-Sustaining Cubicle

'Self-Sustaining Cubicle' Is a installation piece looking at the connection between a rat cage and a office cubicle

Development

Rat Cage

Focusing on pulling from all aspects of my previous work Rat Cage (2024), is an installation-based work. My work explores the visual and physical relationship between a rat cage and the human body. Elements of rat requirements mimic physical forms within the human body. Basic human workings liken to the basic needs of a rat. Loosely focusing on the colours red, white, and black to be cohesive, the rat cage elements lean into the hard and soft body parts. in this project I have been exploring new materials and construction methods to develop differing material consistencies. In the installation such works as the water bottle, tunnel and pellets resemble the inside of the body. The rat completes the same tasks repetitively as does the human body to keep functioning. The works investigate the relationship and working of one’s inner self. Based on the concept of work life balance this work aims to explore the ‘rat race’ of human life.
